Telling the boys about Baby #4

I am 18 weeks pregnant and the boys still do not know what we will be having another baby.  We have waited for two reasons: what if something was to happen how do you explain that to a 5 yr old and a 3 1/2 yr old and didn't want to hear them ask me all 9 months "when does the baby come?".  Although 2 days ago Colby said to me "mommy your belly is getting fat"! Thanks buddy :-).  Today we took them to my US so they could see the baby.

When we walked into the doctors office (ROC) the kids still didn't know why we were there.  There were 3 other couples in the lobby and Colby said "why are we here" and daddy responded with "oh you will soon find out".  Everyone in the lobby chuckled.

After 30 minutes of waiting they finally called us back to a room.  As soon as I began to sit on the table Colby said "is mommy having another baby?".  Funny how he knew so quickly.  At this point Dylan go a little excited but not really sure he understood everything plus he was very curious what they were doing to his mommy.  The lady doing my US was kind enough to do a few 3D pictures so the boys could see the baby in a more real looking form.

Since we don't find out we asked each boy what we were having and Colby says "Baby Blake - boy" and Dylan says "Baby Blake but its a girl".

Well we will see in September......

Colby's 5!!

The first three of Colby's birthdays we had people over to our house and celebrated in the backyard with our bounce house, play set, and all the outdoor toys.  Its amazing how quick these past 5 years have gone.  He is our first baby and I still see him as my baby boy.  So hard to see him grow up and slowly not need me as much.  Such a bitter sweet moment.

Year one - Baby Einstein theme and mommy made him a cake that looked like the caterpillar from the shows

Year two - Thomas but this time I ordered that cake from Publix

Year three - construction zone party with a excavator cake made by mommy

Year four - Woo Hoo he wanted to go to Disney with just the family so no planning and no cake from mommy (although Aunt Lea made him an AWESOME cake)

On his 5th birthday he was allowed to pick his theme, who he invited and where the party was.  He decided that he wanted to go bowling with a pirate theme.  We bought some pirate eye patches, pirate plates & napkins, Pirates booty for the tables, and mommy made a treasure map from cupcakes.

Colby made a few strikes and was very excited!  He had a blast with his friends bowling and in the game room.  It was such an easy party for us to plan.  Would do bowling over and over if they asked.

One of those days...

Seriously not sure if my head wasn't attached if it would ever come with me.  Is it because I am a ditz or that I have 3 kids that consume most of my mind or is it pregnancy brain?  Some of you may say it is all three and I just may have to agree.

Tonight was our first night back at Grow U for Wednesday night church.  Scott has informed me that he wont be able to attend due to a merger that is in place with his company.  Ok I can handle all the kids but before we go to church lets all go to the mall to run in a few stores then go get dinner.  This will be simple.  As we get into the car, kids loaded - strapped into car seats, Colby says I'm hungry mommy...really really hungry.  Really he couldn't have told me this as he sat on the couch reading books while I got the other 2 kids ready??  Fine I will go get all of you little Monkey's a banana and we will be off.  Back out, kids have bananas in hand and mommy is in the pilot seat.  Oh but if I only had car keys.  I begin shuffling through all my stuff because I know I had those darn keys at some point.  Then it hits me......they are in the house because I had to go get bananas!!!  Thank goodness for Becky, the neighbor, who is home and has one of our house keys.  This should have been sign # 1 that I stay home but we didn't we continue on with our plans.  As we are leaving the neighborhood Colby informs me he forgot his removable splint and I respond with "it's OK just be careful so you wont hurt your arm".

The mall and dinner go as smoothly as it can with pregnant mommy and three kids under the age of 5.  We make it to church with everyone and all of our stuff.

Drop all three off in their classroom which by the way none of which are close to one another.  Get to my class 10 minutes late to walk into a packed house.  Scott is at work, mom and Don are not attending since they are in The Keys, and I can't seem to find Erik or Liz to sit next to.  I proceed to the back of the room with no bible (must have left it somewhere like I did the keys) and begin to listen.  Then about 45 minutes into it my phone vibrates and I contemplate not answering it but realize it is a church number.  When I answered, it was Phyllis, nursery director, who tells me Colby has fallen and busted his lip.  I can hear screaming in the background.  Now I am running out of this quiet portable with my clunky shoes trying not to disturb the class worried it wasn't his lip he was crying about but he had hurt his wrist again.  Well as I walk in the doors of the church Dylan's classroom was on the left and I realize it's not Colby that is hurt it has to be Dylan because I can hear his massive dramatic cry!  Thank goodness it wasn't that bad but he did have a slight cut below his lip and on his lip.  Phyllis has said Colby but she meant Dylan.  Thank the Lord for it not being Colby and cuts not to be bad enough to have to get stitches.  Now lets just hope Dylan has learn his lesson that we do not stand on chairs!!
