For Scott's birthday he got a nice bike to start riding longer distances and possible start doing some races. As you can see Colby was hoping that he would get to ride along with daddy :-). He dove right into it all...the helmet, bike shorts, the jersey's, the shoes, computerized speedometer, and good golly knows what else (hence our credit card thought it had been stolen after the purchase).
After riding for a few months, swimming laps in the pool, and throwing in a few runs here and there he decided to dive right into his first mini triathlon!! He wasn't going to make any records but to simply see what it was all about. He made a personal goal: 1. finish the race 2. finish under 1:30. He did awesome and to cheer him on the kids and I went out, signs in hand, to support him. Scott's brother and fiance were visiting so I talked them into coming out to be part of the cheering squad along with neighbors Trevor and Katie. I think he was surprised with his fans being there! Colby was so thrilled to get to cheer daddy on and now wants to do his own next summer. We have lots of work do help him get ready but willing to do so if that is what he wants to do!! BTW - for kids its only a 2 miles bike ride, 1/2 mile run, and 2 laps in a pool (no ocean swim).
