VBS at Hodges Presbyterian

This year we did VBS with Katie, Jackson, and Becky at their church.  The theme was "Recipe for Life" and each day there was a "special ingredient" that is the kids heard they had to say "shake it up".  Chef Basil & Scraps taught the kids the special ingredient in the morning before each group moved on to either arts, science, physical activity, story time, or snack.  Each area related the theme of VBS to their activity for the day along with the  bible story.  Colby was in a group which Katie helped as a crew leader, Dylan was in a class that didn't get to move from station to station but he made new friends and had fun with all the activities, and Abby played (most of the time had the attention all to herself) the nursery.  I volunteered in the Pre-K classroom which turned out to be much more fun than I had anticipated.

Colby & Jackson

Sunday after the VBS ended the church invited all the kids to come and sing songs they had learned during the week at service.  We went to the same service that Becky & Trevor attend and OH Boy did my boys do a great job singing in front of the church which we do not attend.  As they stand in front of the sanctuary singing Dylan stands there stiff as a board and Colby is trying his hardest to sing along.  Finally Colby had enough of his boring performance so he proceeded to grab the microphone and sing as loud as he could (no he didn't know the words).  As I sit laughing til I was crying, Scott was in the front taking a video of this ordeal, and Becky proceeds to tell me that Dylan is picking his nose.  Fabulous we so will never be asked back to this church :-).  Singing ends I am finally relieved that this has ended and the kids are sitting across the sanctuary listening to Chef Basil (AKA Children's Minister).  All of sudden Colby is running back across the sanctuary to Scott and I yelling "mommy daddy you forgot to take my tag off my shirt".  As he was running he was holding the price tag out of the shirt.  Talk about sinking into the pew..........
